I'll start by saying that no, I didnt the read book and overall I did like this series. It was just too long and the story does drag on. The acting is great, and sadly this feels alittle too real. Alot of flawed characters either hooked on drugs or doing a job that they are ill suited to do. The story is depressing but also not the average hollywood story or reboot. Amanda Seyfried's character can be annoying and naive at times but watching her life unfold as the older sister of an addict was sad on many levels. And unlike the same crime series on TV it's nice to watch a story that I could imagine really happened. I just wish they made this one happen in 1 or 2 less episodes.
We all know the story. This wasn't enjoyable to watch and I had to force myself to finish it. Like other reviews mentioned, there are so many other versions of this story that are much better. It amazes me the product that hollywood is putting out these days and the even worse are the reviews that call out how great the cinematography is and how great the actors were for something that is a remake. The story was extremely slow and I found myself rooting for none of the characters. Again, as long as Hollywood keeps pumping out remakes without adding anything to the original version, people are going to just wait until its on one of the premium channels at home.
Its a compelling story and after a couple episodes I was anxiously waiting to see what happened next. I should have seen the let down happen during those little moments in story line where you start to question the unnecessary additions to the plot. Don't get me wrong I can suspend disbelief and ignore the facts that aren't logical. Things like 2 highly classified American operators who just leave for their job...you know Delta Force....for months while they are in a foreign country.
The longer I watched the more I questioned why they made this 10 episodes. Somewhere around episode 6 or 7, I started to read the other comments and even the ones with spoilers because the story just dragged on. The final episode was clearly the worst and didnt do the series justice.
