Could have done without the contrived father/son drama at the start of the film, it was so bad I almost stopped watching it. Luckily I kept on watching it, it really picked up steam in the second half when the film was devoted to the 101st in operation strong eagle III. It really highlighted the sacrifice of the soldiers and their willingness to give all.
I was a civilian contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan, the losses and ceremonies commemorating them were always sad. The professionalism of the US troops, despite the politics and questionable nature of the Iraq War always made me proud.

Spoilers ahead! (how can you review a TV show or Movie without spoilers?)
First off, why does everyone keep comparing this to The Walking Dead when it's obviously more of a riff on World War Z? That being said, the writing is horrid, total trash. The directing, not too good. The acting B rate. Some zombies are typical zombie slow, some are non stop sprinters, interesting concept.
The first episode wasn't too bad, it was watchable but when they killed off the best character, the Delta Captain that probably wasn't a good sign.
About a 1/3 of the way through the second episode I was hoping everyone would be killed to end this pile of trash. The little music mechanism attracting all the zombies in an oil refinery (really, that was an oil refinery, looked more like an abandoned concrete plant), insipid. Can anyone explain why when they finished fueling the tanker, which was their objective, they didn't simply drive off with it? The uber geek at the north pole (or where ever his is), annoying and extremely non helpful. Why isn't he isn't even the slight bit more informative during his rare contacts with the team - Where do we need to go? California! WTF? How about a street address or at least a freakin city? Total crap.
