This story is historic and told so well. The interviews with the real "bastards" are phenomenal., especially Fred Mayer. The role one soldier played in WWII is unbelievable. One soldier, Fred Mayer, changed the course of WWII. I love the archived footage and interviews.
This story is important and could/should have been told better. An important aspect is that in 1937, democrats controlled the senate 79-19 over the republicans. The lynching bill couldn't survive the democratic senate. Plus, FDR was president, another democratic hurdle. Did you also know that an anti-lynching bill was not successfully put into law until 2020, under President Trump!? It took over 100 years and a Republican to finally get this bill passed.
Obviously the book is much more descriptive and full. This first cast was my favorite. I loved Taylor Shilling as Dagny best. This is an incredible prophecy from 1957 about the state of the nation in 2016. Less and less personal freedom and more and more government control. Although the movie was but an outline of the book, the story is great. Worth watching.
