Jonathan played by Mitch Teemly is one of the most positive characters I have seen in a film. I will admit it annoyed me at times but the consistency of Johnathan's actions eventually won me over. The premise and story that unfolds may seem far fetched to some but I know of several very complex interpersonal relationships in my own life. So this was not a stretch for me to believe.
Christine Jones as Evelyn was enjoyable to watch and reminds us that those relationships are not straight forward. I think she showed how we all battle with our past and how it plays into the present.
Two of my closest friends are of the Catholic faith so while not necessary to know it was helpful in understanding the ceremonial aspects. It's always nice to get a happy ending. I agree with another reviewer that the music was cheesy yet the lyrics did support the storyline.

Despite my initial misgivings about the connection between Ingrid and Alec I began to get sold on the slow building of the relationship. It was demonstrated that Ingrid was a loving and caring person but still I really didn't think Ingrid would return to meet Alec after their first meeting, and was kept guessing a couple more times. I did like the Rose character especially as a balance providing some skepticism. Not sure if I saw a test of faith or that faith helps you through a test. Both I think. Not being a huge fan of the genre in particular, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the film.
