This film made a big impression on me, as it has on many who have given their film reviews here since 2008. I would call it a "Slasher Drama." The film explores the close and interesting relationship between the protagonist and his brother, a subplot that rarely comes up in this type of film. There's also that passionate, dramatic element of romantic relationships that I personally find appealing. Another thing I want to highlight is the cast of women-all beautiful, blondes, brunettes, voluptuous-which I think is always a plus in these B-movie horror-thriller films. The choice of Michael Callan as the protagonist is interesting; it pays off, for example, in the pool scene, where his expression is truly terrifying! And then there's the usual: explicit sex scenes, violent deaths, blood, nudity, and police officers on the edge, and above all, the panoramic view of the earthly and infernal realm of these films: the city of Los Angeles, California. Double Exposure is slow and includes unnecessary scenes, but for me it's 5 stars!
A complete masterpiece of American comedy, which more than comedy traverses other genres such as romantic comedy and family drama. Woody Allen must be jealous. Many scenes have an incredible tone of feminine strength, director Paul Mazursky also uses sensuality many times, for example those scenes that show Clayburgh without a bra, topless, or in panties, all of this combined with excellent dialogues between this quartet of friends, which at no point become toxic, but rather provide motivational support for each decision each one makes, or that ending where Alan Bates shows her that every woman doesn't need a man to fend for herself. A must-see masterpiece if you want to see a story that tells you that women are on equal footing with anyone else. Unmarried Woman is 10 stars.
I had very high expectations for this script. It reminded me a lot of the film "Let's Get Harry" (1986). But everything fell flat. This is really a TV movie. There's no expansion of the characters, everything is the same old cliché. The jungle scenery is bland and doesn't create any sensations. It's just trees, trees, and more trees. And the rescue squad can't hold a candle to the one in Predator (1987). There's nothing that excites you about this film. Is it an action movie? I don't know. I had more action last night watching a Diane Krall concert. It's a bad movie. Plane is a 3-star movie.
