This is the second movie I've seen this month that incorrectly lists Debbie D in the cast. Debbie D only appears on the recent blu ray promotional art. Phil Herman directs the opening story "Number 1 fan" where the 'star' of Jacker (a previous Herman movie and also the director) is stalked by a female fan. Has strong Before I Die vibes. Next, follows an English short (mix of Kill List and the Scarewaves segment with the security guard) and couple of 2 minute incoherent shorts and then onto two stories by Ryan Cavalline. First is a dude killing his gf and that's it, that's the story, Big shocker. And then Day of the Ax (with snow) which Ryan would either lengthen to a full movie or just reuse the title 6 years later. I've seen the full length Davy of Ax, and I couldn't tell ya. Joel Wynkoop hosts the whole thing as the Reaper. Mostly writing this out for prosperity purposes, but it's a must see for fans of the Decrepit Crypt of Nightmares, kinda like the Early Works of David Lynch, but you know...
One of the aspects I always loved about "Clowns" was the cheesy practical cut-out gore effects. In this one there are still plenty of those but the CGI blood splashes that accompany them kind of take you out of the moment. Also there are some silly found footage camera effects that are more distracting than they are effective. Lesson to no-budget filmmakers please stay away from the computer graphics (this coming from a guy who does CGI for movies), and keep to the practical effects.
Overall Clowns is a decent slasher flick that would have been much better if it didn't rely so heavily on computer FX. I like how it tried to do something a little different by killing the clown and introducing a new killer but ultimately the movie was a bit of a let down due to the digital fx.

Wow what a cast! Great film we've got going on here, with loads of thrills and chills that will make your spine crawl in the best way possible. Hans Hernke is perfect as the classic lonely serial killer Todd. Kind've got a Dexter thing going on here. This is a film I would watch reputedly and like clockwork is never fails to bring drama every 10 minutes. This is not a film to miss as you'll be left wanting more due to great characters and their performances by such a great group of actors. A sequel could be arranged for this thriller? I'm not sure I aint a filmmaker but I do know that this film is excellent.
