I gave this a try thinking «OK another ER» or «another hospital show just as the others». Being a health professional myself, dealing with trauma and suffering, I kept my critical distance and didn't expect much in the first episode.
I have to admit it won over my heart not only in terms of theme, but also of performances, timeframe concept, scenic tempo, visual realism and character composition (I expect some improvement in some of the characters, still).
It turned to be compelling, entertaining, tremendously dramatic and with poignant room for thought and reflection about the medical profession. I left the last episode with the best impression and really hope a second season will be as rewarding as this. Kudos to everyone involved---they really excelled!

What a fantastic show!
Season 3 has been the best, so far, and I am eagerly waiting for Season 4, considering the precedent that each season is better than the previous one.
The stories about embattled women and social emerging causes added interest to an already highly entertaining production, with tremendous attention to detail.
The opening score is fantastic, resembling the wheels of the train and the staccato tempo of American thrust and drive, alternating with the symphonic romanticism of the grand passages. It somehow sums up the whole spirit of the show.
Kudos to Fellowes, who outdid himself after the epochal success of Downton Abbey, and congratulations to the whole cast, who was not completely convincing to me at the very start, but with the passage of time won my full devotion!
