The way these episodes are written are like a bottle of head and shoulders. Lather rinse repeat. Larry Mondello is a no good creep and as usual Beaver listens to him when he knows it's wrong. This happens over and over. And then lets add to it that Beaver was selfish, inconsiderate and just a little rat in this episode.
He doesn't even get punished for lying nor does Larry get any kind of punishment. Remember when Larry stole money from his mother and dragged Beaver into it . The writers really were terrible for this show , they never let Beaver be anything more than a tool with bad friends .

For starters , the title is not right. There is only one Aunt visiting, the other woman is just a random friend. And of course June pulls a really bad guilt trip on the kids and Ward. She is the worst being so insensitive to the boys and Ward. And then to top it off she practically forces the Aunt and the other woman to stay when they really didnt want too and it was so unnecessary - I wanted to yell at June and ask her was this about her or about the boys, Seemed like it was all about her and then to guilt trip and get angry. Ward sure was wrong in chastising the boys - seems he should have told June off .
This episode was so bad and shows how awful Ward and June were on parenting in social situations. June is so old fashioned- little boys with white gloves etc. Let kids be kids , why do you need to force them in doing something like that. This BS about teaching them manners and social graces at 12 years old. Like Wally said a cotillion is what snobs call a dance. Its nothing more than trying to impress kids that dressing fancy and acting like a snob is common practice. When I was 12 in 1977 - of course things were very different but we still had those stupid little dances and I refused to go to them - I didn't care for social situations as a 12 year old boy. All of the social BS in school was all for the girl. Like proms etc - its for the girl ., the poor guy gets dragged along out of stupid tradition. Ward was horrible to yell and force Beaver as was June to go along with it. The problem with Ward and June was they kept living in the past and raising their kids with a 1920's mentality.
