Zoinks! That creepy old guy who takes young Cesar sailing and essentially kidnaps him would enable an Amber Alert today, and rightly so. Asíde from some of those disturbing details, This Broadway-musical-turned-soaper was so overwrought that I could easily have switched channels, except:
-Maurice Chevalier's performance
-Charles Boyer's performance
-The actress who played Leslie Caron's mother
-The Marseille scenery and waterfront
-Leslie Caron's beauty
I couldn't stop watching. Maybe that will happen to you. The Germán actor who played the lead WAS cute. Sometimes I like a good soap. I can't guarantee that I have the best of taste.
