I had a feeling I had watched a pilot episode of a new Star Trek series.
As a movie, it was a tad bigger budget scifi tv movie. Fight scenes, explosions, star ships, planet hopping. A hint of starfleet here and there. Kinda stood on its own without all backstory based on older Star Trek movies and series.
If this ever be a series, I guess I would be watching.
Not too bad. Nothing too original. Quite ok.
The cast did a proper job, as expected. Michelle Yeoh did her role well.
And I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of... (secret) as a command chief(?)... :-)
Watch again? Maybe...

When the show started, I liked the storytelling, characters. There was some more likeable than others.
But the last few seasons, the characters, actors portraying them... are not that likeable.
Few characters in the series especially rub me the wrong way and I wish they would get rid of them. Likeable they are not, irritating absolutely yes.
The exit of Jesse was biggest downhill. He was my favourite from the start. Now he gone, and I have hard time grabbing a new favourite.
Voight (Beghe) of course is Voight. The center gravity of the whole series.
But anyone else. Just not that much. Do not know what happened in storyline, characters.... but the last few seasons just doesn't work as well... I do not know if I am eagerly waiting for the season 12...

The leads have great chemistry. Glynis was one of my childhood beauty queen idols. I had a few of her posters up on my wall.
Storylines in episodes are guaranteed 80's. Some over the top, some very light. Writing, production and acting was in very decade proper.
The topics vary from side to side. Counterfeit artifacts, funny money, illegal bare knuckle boxing, drugs, kidnapping, crime rings. There was also a very dark episode including abductions of women and rape. Which in my opinion was one of the best in series.
The cars also appealed to a teenage boy. The Mercedes Benz Dempsey drove was a very nice, I personally live the Escort cabriolets Makepeace drove. Both the blue in series 1 and 2, also the white XR3i in Series 3.
In several episodes there was great american muscle. Some british greats as well. Rolls, Daimler, Jags, Minis, Rovers.
I loved this when I was a kid... this came out when I was 11. And I got the complete series dvd set. Have watched this a few more times. This never gets old 😍
