Will 20 minutes be enough to familiarise with Casandra or will the rush of adrenaline and fear take over the time?
. Although the effects are sometimes funny and storytelling comes together mostly only at the end, I really enjoyed how they played around the idea of "facing ones grief" and what happens if one escape it all the time just because it seems more convenient than actually doing something.
. The acting was great, because you could see how based on the place in the story how all characters were also changing their emotionality. And dialogues - well finally it seems as something actually true to true interactions.
. Overall- I enjoyed the somewhat scary yet ironic/satirical episode.

I like the adaptation, the idea of musical and that there are things from the base material. However few kids comparing to other movies or the movie Matilda (1996) are not so great at portraying the right emotions (it also refers to adults), it at a point seems like a joke. And other times the movie is really good.
I enjoy that the intelligence of Matilda is shown through her ability to tell a story, but some songs or parts of the stories seem like fillers that are there just because the director and writer could or wanted to fill the time they were given.
Thus some songs I did now see as fruitful and they were not as engaging as other songs. As if only 50% is ok or great, but the other 50% makes you feel as if there's something missing.
But the graphics, film itself is very masterful, dialogues are fine, just the story itself seems to lack something or maybe it is the fact that it is overfilled.
Nevertheless it is a nice movie to watch, but you might be left with a feeling to watch Matilda (1996) afterwards.

If you are familiar with the first movie, this movie does not answer anything. Hearing that the tile is "First Kill" one would wonder - when did it happen, how she grew the way she did and what has happened in her life that made her the woman she is. But nothing, we only see that she has a pattern - because of her age she always will look up to males and will be knowledgeable enough to use her youthful looks.
But the "First Kill" does not really explain when was the first kill, why was she seen as dangerous in the facility, what truly was her first kill, did she have the attachment for older man truly just because of her youthfulness? I like smart horror movies, and while the first movie shed the light on who she was, this movie failed to add some new dimensions.
However if you have not seen the first movie , perhaps this makes sense as a prequel.
