Anushka Sharma and her team have done a fabulous job of creating this web series, which is a very engaging political thriller. The best thing about this series is the fact that a team of really strong writers worked in this. The main showrunner Sudip Sharma is the man behind movies like Udta Punjab, NH 10 and Sonchiriya. Hence, we get a show with a lot of layers. It's a show which has a lot of depth, which has lot to say to it's viewers regarding the current socio political setup of the country. It may be offending to some, as I can already see that people are strategically down voting the series, calling it biased, anti nationalist etc. Well, the show is exactly about these things. These people are a living proof that whatever has been shown in the show happens in today's India. This is not a dystopian vision of India, neither does it depict our country in that state of utopia, which the people down voting it here make it out to be.It shows bitter reality.
The performances, especially that of Jaideep Ahlawat and Abhishek Banerjee are fantastic.
Overall, I would say this is another show with good content from Amazon prime. They are really doing a good job. Keep it up!
It is completely beyond me, that how people didn't only not see this film, but even boycotted it! When will the audiences in our country be matured enough to respect a person's political stand and opinions? Anyone who is against your political stand doesn't call for boycotting! And to top it all, the movie isn't political at all. The movie should've been judged on it's merit and not on it's actor or director's political opinions.
The movie tells a very relevant tale about Malti, an acid victim, her fight for her own justice, and then the fight to get acid banned. The treatment is subtle and sensitive, which tugs at your heartstrings. Deepika Padukone is fantastic as the central character. It's not easy to play such a character where you have to make the viewers feel the character's pain, but she does that effortlessly. Vikrant Massey is good too.
The movie is completely devoid of any kind of masala we find in commercial entertainers. It is strictly focused on telling it's story. Even the songs blend seamlessly with the story's progression.
While the movie highlights the hopelessness of the country, in context of the topic it presents, it is also a story about hope and revival. It is also about how Malti starts living her own life again.
I strongly recommend people to see this movie. It's very rare to find such movies in bollywood which remains true to it's content. See it and spread the word.
