  • Almost a really great show

The Residence on Netflix surprised me in the best way. It was sharp, well-paced, and full of energy. The concept was fresh, the writing was clever, and almost every actor in the cast delivered exactly what the show needed. Nearly everyone brought charisma, depth, and purpose to their role.

But then there was Eliza Coupe.

Every time she showed up on screen, it was like slamming the brakes on the entire episode. Her acting was stiff, forced, and completely out of sync with the tone of the show. She overplayed everything and somehow still brought nothing to the table. Her delivery felt like someone doing a bad impression of a character she did not understand. Her facial expressions were bizarre. Her timing was off. She did not feel believable for a second.

And it was not just her acting. There is something unsettling about her appearance throughout the show. She looks completely out of place, almost like she is unwell. Her appearance distracted me constantly, and not in a way that served the story or the character. I found myself wondering if she was even okay, rather than focusing on what was happening in the scene. Whatever the intended character arc was supposed to be, it was buried under a performance that felt erratic and disconnected.

Everyone else seemed to understand what kind of show they were in. Eliza Coupe felt like she wandered in from a different production entirely. I do not know how or why she was cast in this role, but it was a terrible decision. She took me out of every episode she was in, and I would genuinely rewatch the series if her role had been given to almost anyone else.

It is frustrating because The Residence really is a great show otherwise. It has smart writing, memorable moments, and a strong ensemble. But one bad casting choice stuck out like a sore thumb and dragged down every scene she touched.

  • Whay a disappointment

I loved Season 1 of The Last of Us. It had soul, character depth, strong performances, and real emotional weight. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey carried the show with raw intensity and genuine chemistry. Every episode felt crafted with care. It was easily one of the best video game adaptations ever made and one of the best dramas on TV that year.

Season 2 ruined all of that.

The pacing became a mess. Characters lost their depth. The writing felt rushed and confused. But none of that compares to the one thing that completely killed my interest in continuing. Kaitlyn Dever as Abby is a disaster.

She is painfully miscast. Abby is supposed to be an intimidating, emotionally complex, physically powerful character. What we got instead is someone who looks and feels completely wrong for the part. Kaitlyn Dever lacks the presence, the physicality, and the emotional weight that Abby demands. Every time she is on screen, it feels off. I do not buy her in the role for a second, and it destroys any sense of immersion or tension.

The moment she appeared, I stopped caring about the story. I already know where the plot is heading, and now I could not care less. Season 2 was a warning sign. The finale confirmed everything I feared. This show has completely lost its identity.

Season 3 will revolve around a character played by someone who should never have been cast. I will not waste my time watching a story led by an actress who cannot carry the role. I am done.

The Last of Us had everything going for it. Now it has nothing.
    Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain

  • Watching celebrities travel and eat...

Imagine booking a flight to Spain, not for the culture, the architecture, or the actual people who live there-but to watch Eva Longoria sip wine and moan over tapas like she just discovered salt. Welcome to Eva Longoria: Searching for Whatever, yet another entry in the inexplicably popular genre of "famous person travels, eats carbs, and pretends to understand local history."

This isn't a documentary. This is a glossy influencer reel with a travel budget. Eva strolls through markets, throws out phrases like "ancient traditions" with the enthusiasm of someone who read half a Wikipedia article, and acts shocked-shocked!-that people eat dinner at 10 p.m. In Spain. Groundbreaking content. Ten minutes in and you've already learned more about her skincare routine than the region's culture.

And let's talk about the trend. Who is still watching these shows? You people really sat there and thought, "You know who I want to explain the complexities of Spanish regional identity? The Desperate Housewife." Are we just collecting passport stamps by proxy now, living vicariously through people whose idea of "immersion" is hiring a local chef and calling it anthropology?

This show isn't about Spain. It's about Eva Longoria discovering food like an alien visiting Earth for the first time. Every episode is a montage of her gasping at olives, making overacted eye-rolls after eating a slice of jamón, and saying things like, "Wow, it's so authentic here." As opposed to what, Eva? The Taco Bell near your Malibu mansion?

Verdict: Skip it. Unless your idea of intellectual stimulation is watching a millionaire pretend to be humbled by rice.
