15 years ago, the scolds ranted that the average of eight hours of television was too much for children. Earlier, they said horror films caused them to do mass shootings. Now, they're ranting that social media is causing suicides and murders. This is a tiresome retread of those same arguments.
Everybody's also raving about ADOLESCENCE's supposedly groundbreaking one-shot technique, limited to each one-hour episode. Why is film history forgotten so easily? I guess these self-proclaimed film experts just never saw TIMECODE, RUSSIAN ARK, or Alfred Hitchcock's ROPE.
Conclusion: nothing new in this series.

I read a lot of French lit in high school, but I really regret this was not on the required reading list. What a film! Revenge is such a central theme of so many films, from Michael Winner's DEATH WISH to Coralie Fargeat's REVENGE, but this story, with its nonstop potboiler twists and turns, is a fantastic new spin--using a very old classic literary masterpiece. You will also learn a lot about French history after the Revolution. I only had vague ideas about Napoleon's exile and the restored monarchy; now I know it was decades of backstabbing skullduggery! Don't miss it. It's a three-hour page-turner!
I got a master's at NYU, studying with the likes of Haig Manoogian. One of my other profs there is probably the greatest scholar of film genre, ever. He told me a few weeks ago he is now writing a book which will zero in on JUSTIFIED. Elmore Leonard? All I can do is bow down and say "I'm not worthy." All Elmore touches turns to brilliance. Here's the kicker: producer Don Kurt and I used to man offices in the Gulf + Western tower (now Trump International) for Paramount Pictures. So, I will continue to binge away on JUSTIFIED. Only question is: why can't I dial my rating up to 11 stars? Boyd Crowder is one of the most interesting movie characters ever written.
