Forget the movie and read the book. They took everything great about the book, changed it and in the process lessened the story in almost every way. It feels like they are in such a hurry to get to the action that they gloss over the beginning. Then they proceed to take every character and give them baggage instead of just letting them be good people. Sad.
Not a bad start for The Daily Wire as their first film. It isn't perfect, but it's engaging and pretty well acted. I also liked the subtle reminder that criminals will find access to weapons that the government has made illegal. By making them illegal they are only taking access from law abiding citizens not actual criminals.
Remember Alien and Aliens? Signorney Weaver was masterful and other characters like Hudson, Hicks, Burke, Bishop, and Vasquez just added life and personality to it. This movie has none of the same personality but tries to be a similar sort of movie. It could have been so much more.
