It is most powerful movie about war, I have seen. Its power is coming not from terrifying war scenes but from context of very simple every-days words. As result it catch you without preparation to see terrifying scenes, and it makes it unbelievably real – you are really in it, probably the some way like it happen in real life. This art of being able to describe darkest sides of people throw every-days simple words has also another surprising effect – you are not loosing hope for society.
If person like Sarah haven't not influenced yours life, than this movie can be to short to make reasonable impact on you. On other side, if yours life was strongly influenced by person like Sarah, then this movie could be a little bit to harsh. Before I met such a person I was unable to imagine that this kind of people could possible exist – it just does not make any sense. It was harsh to see this movie, but it is very good to be reminded in clear way that those people exist.
If you like Labyrinth and Alice in Wonderland you will like Mirrormask. For me is very surprising that the some ideas is possible to show in very different way and by my opinion in many ways better way. So it is kind of next step somewhere. And I love the art way how is in movie represented this magi world.
