How many cliches can you cram into a nonsensical script? Well... this much. A crooked cop estranged from his wife and daughter trying to make good for his mistakes. Check. Fellow cop that is a goody but chooses to fight with him? Check. Seemingly bulletproof hero who himself doesn't seem to miss a shot? Check. Guns with unlimited ammo? Check. Almost unlimited baddies crawling out of every nook and cranny who couldn't shoot an elephant when it's standing on their feet? Check. Shakey action camera to the point you're getting dizzy from it? Check... need I go on?
It really has some weird stuff going on... in the beginning of the movie they seem to be setting up for some stuff... the angle with his daughter and wife that ultimately plays out to be completely nothing. Walker seemingly having some kind psychic power about seeing how a crime scene went down and for the rest of the movie is not used again. And his backstory which is never fully explained.
Still entertaining nonetheless... Hardy basically carrying the whole movie and the action is hard, fast and bloody... good movie for a boring Sunday evening.

The original is one of the best movies ever made, it was near perfect from beginning to end. Crowe commanded the screen with a steller performance and Phoenix gave us a character we love to hate. The original did not need a sequel... and especially not this one.
The writers fail to engage me into the story, Paul Mescal fails having me rooting for him, it was a lack luster character, a weak copy of Maximus.
The writing is lazy and unorginal and at times the visuals I would even call a bit campy... it lacks the grit and rawness of the first movie, at times it almost feels like I'm watching a Monty Python movie with the exaggerated and colorful characters and settings. Nothing feels original or well thought through. Even the timeline doesn't make much sense, it supposedly took 16 years that people forgot about Maximus wishes, but it seems clear that they have already forgotten after they buried them and all kept going down the drain.
Only a few scenes and characters/performances that make this movie watchable, but it is a disgrace to have this be named the successor of the original.

Visually the movie looks great at times, every Snyder movie does. But when it comes to everything else is just messy and unoriginal. Already said about the first movie, it's a blatant Star Wars rip off with a twist of Western and a bit steam punk. Almost not a single scene where I haven't seen something similar, almost not a piece of dialogue I haven't heard before. The story is sloppy, the characters underdeveloped with a weak attempt to make you understand them better (that table scene... ouch, painful). The cast is not given much to work with, some of the more veteran actors get away with it, but it's painfully obvious who doesn't.
Only watch it for the sweet visuals, the rest is a big waste of time.
