This movie has none of the charm and excitement of the first one. It's a fairly soulless attempt at bringing the audience back for another round without any of the intensity and drama of the previous movie.
It starts out as a bland action comedy(?) and, by the end, is pure trash. Go rewatch the original or find some other cookie cutter action film to watch as this is a waste of time.

I'm not sure why people love it so much. The character development is rushed, the story is weird and also sloppy, and the fight choreography is just awful. Seriously, the hallway fight is supposed to be some incredible scene, and it was so goofy and poorly done. You can literally see the actors pulling punches and kicks, see them miss their target.
I wonder if we were so starved for foreign films that we're more than unwatchable art house cinema only acceptable to film students and connoisseurs that we gave this movie a pass. I kept watching, waiting for it to get good, then the bonkers ending happens and it got worse.

The acting and writing is, generally, excellent with a few exceptions. The story does have some holes in it, along with some things that don't add up (eg, characters missing things that should be obvious). That said, overall it's very good.
The characters are likable (even the unlikable ones, if that makes sense). Akram is especially compelling. The story is engaging, more so as the show comes to its climax. The show certainly looks slick; both the sets and the outdoor shots look great, although they could have used the city of Edinburgh much more than they chose to. It's visually one of the most interesting cities in the world and they decided not to shoot it very much.
Give it a watch, you won't be disappointed.
