  • Why? why? why?

This is a really bad movie. I sincerely cannot understand why somebody created this film. Bad scenario, bad acting, plot without connection. It could be a comedy, but it is not, it could be an adventure, but it is not, it could be a gangster-film, but it is not. Apparently it turns out to be nothing. It is actually a mircale that Vincent Cassel accepted to participate in this film. The movie is full with cliche and bad humour. I would expect something more from the director Romain Gavras. I said he is the son of Costas Gavras, let's give him another chance after Athena. Nope, bad choice again.

  • The Oscar and the Golden spheres are coming Home

Yorgos has created a masterpiece this time. All the contributors were awesome, from the actors to the costume-designer, from the aesthetic to the direction. A true masterpiece. Congratulations to everyone for this outcome.

The film is really interesting from the beginning till the end. The characters are amazing, Mark Raffalo, Emma Stone, William Dafoe, what a feeling to enjoy these excellent roles. The story is really unique (great book) too. Moreover, the ideas and the values, which this movie presents are very clear and progressive, good thing in general for Hollywood films. Usually somebody can get bored from the deep meaning or the specific concept of a film, but in this film everything seems to bond casually and with harmony. The humour and the grotesque moments and scenes give a light atmosphere to the characters and the movie as a whole.

To sum up Yorgos brings finally something new to the cinema world, something fresh with innovative ideas and important messages. Hollywood just sit down on your couch and learn from somebody that knows how to do it right.

    P. S. If somebody didn't like the movie or found it provocative, there is always Aquaman playing on screen, go and enjoy!

    Kisses from Athens.

  • Good movie!!

Sincerely I cannot understand why the ratings are so low. The movie was pretty good. The movie illustrates some social aspects of greek society, during COVID-19. The protagonists struggle in every day life. Poverty, racism, violence, fascism are some realistic pictures from every day life in Greece during the last decade. A general picture of the social problems, that people experience every day in Athens. The teenagers are not born bad, the conditions make them bad. The point of view of the director is pretty good, the actors are young and play well. Good use of camera, truthful dialogues, well directed sex scenes. In general a good new greek cinema movie. Nice try, well done!!!

  • Pretty good!!! Hard times, class struggle!!

Damnation is actually pretty good and in my opinion an underrated serie. The case is something different. The series present the class struggle during 1930s and the moral and ideological principles of the US society. Also illustrate the socioeconomic status of the '30s truthfully and the main contradictions that were crossing the society. The main actors are very good and they play very well. Moreover the plot goes fast and the viewer cannot get bored in general. The fact that the sex-scenes and the love story are not so long helps the viewer not to get tired. The difficulties of the lower classes and their struggle are clear and the contemporary viewer finally stands with the poor and observe their role and situation from an objective point of view.

  • A critic for a good movie, but "Nothing special"

I must admit that the movie is not bad. The black and white color style creates a romantic and nostalgic atmoshere, during the era of the beginning of the cold war. There are some impressive and well-played scenes (and that is something the director must be praised for, his visual aesthetic), especially in the beginning of the movie, showing the life in Poland after the war and the folkore culture. The perfume and sense of old times and the illustration of another era are so clear. This is the good side of the movie, that reminds us something of the old romantic movies. On the other hand, a movie that could simply be a masterpiece, it just ends to be "nothing special". The main reason is that, although it considers to be a love-film, love is not clearly illustrated. The spectator cannot really understand why their love is so strong, why these people are so stuck to its other. They continue to move all the time and make love and argue, while there is not enough "heaviness" to their relationship. It becomes boring at some point, just to watch people go around and argue and love each other without a reason. In cocnlusion, while I liked the way that the director presents the capitalist world, giving emphasis to the differences between the east and the west ethics and culture, I didn't like the way of presentation of the communist side, because he concentrates only to authority, power, jails and no freedom at all. The movie just left me with a sense, that I was expecting something more.
