I'd really just like to advise any potential viewers to look for Resolution first, before watching this.
Ain't often that I feel taken aback by worldbuilding, but this here really feels special.

I honestly had hopes left for the last installment of the Arise arc, I thought that maybe they'd want to end it properly by actually putting effort in developing something that didn't feel cheap, uninspired and forgettable.
Well I was wrong, Just like the other three episodes prior, it's amateurish, and feels like a dumbed down version of SAC, which in itself wasn't the greatest thing ever, but was enjoyable in its own way.
Soundtrack-wise it features weaksauce techno beats, the animation is poorly done and is borderline laughable. Scenes and lines are (poorly) rehashed from the 1995 film and as usual the character development is lacking.
This movie says a lot about the current state of anime as a whole and its target audience. I really have to go re-watch Mamoru Oshii's film to rinse the bitter taste this thing left on my mouth.

Alright, so. I start this off by saying I'm above all a gun nut and I really appreciate well done gunfights.
Now while for the most of you, seeing Arnold play a gritty anti-heroic cop might come as a brash surprise destroying your childhood memories of Arnie being the good guy, for what it is, this movie does what it's supposed to. It's a gritty action flick with loads of gore and bad people doing bad stuff, it's flashy and excessive scrutiny and deep thought processes should be left at home while watching it.
The story is a bit of a convoluted mess and is at times incoherent. Is that the end of the world and does it justify a one star review ? Probably for some watchers but it sure wasn't that much of a deal breaker for me.
I would never put this movie in the same league as Heat or the 1981 Thief, but it's good mindless fun. It has some great gun handling scenes for those of us into that sort of thing and the gore, while excessive at times is fairly realistic. The way the cartels are portrayed is believable and lets us all know that cartels are mean, mean things.
So yeah, it's a decent movie and I certainly enjoyed it more than that freak show with Johnny Knoxville. Just don't think too much and you'll probably enjoy it as I did. Interpret that as you wish.
