Though a bit dated now you can see why it was so popular and won many awards on its cinema release back in the early 1950's
If remade today I'm sure it would be a bit darker as a Japanese prisoner of war camp was not the picnic sometimes portrayed in this movie
Alex Guinness was very good and deserved his Oscar. All in all a good watch.
I must admit when first watching the film on it's release back in the early 1990's I didn't really engage with its story
But am so glad to have made the decision to try it again, as it's a very good film!
Absolute power house performance from my favourite actor Al Pacino who deservingly won an Oscar for his role of the blind army Colonel.

All a bit weird and wacky to begin with, but stick with it as it basically is a whodunnit murder mystery. Which the main participants tell their version of in a series of flashbacks
Has an atmospheric feel and look to the film and was impressed by the acting and sheer natural beauty of the female lead Machiko Kyo.
