  • Perfect film noir

If you are a fan of the film noir movies.in the 40's and 50's you will really enjoy this movie. Beautiful actors Handsome male leads young Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas play their roles to perfection. One of the few times I was attracted to the "bad" guy.

Come to think about it the main characters are all people with a sordid past. Jane Greer is stunningly beautiful and mysterious. She plays her role perfectly ambiguous innocent and evil. Tough guy Mitchum shines as a reformed crook wanting a new quiet peaceful life yet caught up in his "past".

This movie is well written and photography grey and dark creating the perfect mood for film noir.

Surprise ending cinches the deal. Watch it you will not be disappointed.

  • Title is a bit misleading

Initially I was intrigued by the title and after investigating on IMDB was impressed by the actors all well known and respected. The premise is interesting however done in other films. This was a very pleasant movie with beautiful scenes of New York City and Long Island. Women's clothes quite lovely especially Lauren Bacall who can wear a dress like none other. While I was puzzled about the ending figured it out half way through. All characters played perfectly ie Clifton Webb his usual snobbish arrogant role. My only annoyance was June Allison's character a bit over the top and too stupid to be believed. I guess she does that role well. Favorite wife: Lauren Bacall favorite husband Van Heflin. He is an underrated actor who has played a wide range of roles always excellent.

    This film is worth watching.

  • Great documentary about a complicated actor

There is quite a lot of detailed information about Steve McQueen especially interesting was his childhood issues lack of love from parents years in reformatory which shaped his persona and in fact made his screen presence as a tough guy. He had a great love of machinery "cars motorcycles" and women living a very hedonistic lifestyle. Narrated and produced by evangelist Greg Laurie who drives an iconic replica green mustang in the film. There are greet interviews from many people including Mel Gibson.

While watching you realized that McQueen was a very complicated man striving for success and once achieved still did not find happiness. Sad to see how hard he worked and perfected his art and not be fulfilled. It's only on the last days of his life that he was at peace.

One complaint is the music is so loud and distracting that you can't understand dialogue. Good documentary worth watch.
