Before watching the newest Jurassic Park my wife and I decided to rewatch all the movies from this franchise again. We rated the first one with the same score as this one but to be honest it was slightly better. It's just those kids that were annoying and not that great actors. In this sequel there's another kid and she's just a better actress, but the story is for sure not better. As an animal lover I just don't like watching animals getting hurt or hunted, even not fictional ones. The good things are the very well made dinosaurs, they are the reson why it's still worth watching. But the bad decision making from the characters, due to a lousy script, are a bit annoying. Tonight the third movie, hopefully a better script.
Before watching the newest Jurassic Park my wife and I decided to watch all the other movies from this franchise again. This first movie came out when I was in my twenties so I watched it several times already and I still enjoy watching it now. For 1993 the technologies used here are great, where all the dinosaurs looked very real. Stephen Spielberg made again a movie everybody will remember. I would probably have it rated higher when it came out, as I would have been mesmerized by the CGI's then, but now that we are more used to it this movie had some things that bugged me, like the highly annoying kids which in my opinion are very average actors. They made it feel like a kids movie and that was not necessary. The rest of the cast was good, too bad the kids brought the quality down.
2025 has been a good year for horror movies. I've watched several refreshing horror movies this year and this one is for sure one of them. Writer/director Zach Cregger already made some entertaining movies and Weapons is another example of his twisted imagination. The horror in Weapons consists mostly of jump scares but there is also a freaky atmosphere and a right amount of mystery and suspense. The story is told in chapters, each one of a different character and what happened to them on the day the kids disappeared. Julia Garner shows again she's a good actress. The rest of the cast was good as well. Good job from the make-up artists to make some characters look freaky. One of the better horror movies of this year.
