I binge watched in one night, all 6 episodes. Can hardly wait for season two, which I truly hope will be green-lit. There are no major surprises here, just a well paced, action packed joy ride, an easy watch. Of course, in these types of shows, one must suspend disbelief to be able to fully immerse themselves into the make-believe world and follow the characters' plights. It's called "an escape from our own mundane reality," lol. So sit back and just enjoy. The scenery of Korea is a welcomed treat for my eyes, as my traveling days are over. Anyhow, I've never heard of the actress playing the daughter but I'm looking her up. And it's great to see Daniel Dae Kim back on screen. The ending does lean towards a set up for season two, so fingers crossed.
I'm blown away by this series and Kate Winslet! Going in I didn't think I'd enjoy it, but after the 2nd episode, I was hooked and felt quite emotionally connected to all the main characters. The acting all around was simply top-notch. A shout out must go out to Evan Peters who shone here so bright that I barely recognized him. As if coming out from under Ryan Murphy's wings he's finally free to fly, and soar he did. And what more can I add to the praises for Kate Winslet's performance?! Simply divine. That scene in the finale, where she walked slowly (camera slow-mo) toward the house, with a ton of dread weighing on her shoulders knowing well what awaited her inside the house, yet she soldiered on to do her job...her expression, her tentative yet firm stride--all of it somehow got to me and surprised the heck out of me when my throat tightened and tears started streaming down my cheeks. Oh my...dear me!
This show is so much more than a police procedural murder mystery. Just watch it, and who knows what emotion(s) it may elicit from your bowels.
