  • An underrated gem

This is a gem of a movie with a slow start that builds in appreciation as the story unfolds. It has a surprising array of talented actors, and they all do well. Shirley Maclaine is a masterful actress and does not disappoint in this film. She plays a woman who has always controlled everything in her life and now is focused on having her final say, hence the title. Amanda Seyfried plays a young obit writer and as always, fully commits to the role and she shines. The two make this an enjoyable and thoughtful experience. It isn't an action or popcorn movie, and didn't make much of a splash when it debuted but has a new life in streaming. It's about living life, facing challenges and being willing to take risks in life without fear of failure.

  • A young evolving Batman

This was an interesting take on the story. As others have said, this is much more of a detective story than previous iterations, but very engrossing with excellent supporting characters and a truly inspired take on the main villain. This story shows him becoming the world's greatest detective. It is a young Batman focused on vengeance, and wanting to make a difference to his city. Pattinson is lean, and makes for a more lithe Batman which took me some getting used to. I had really liked Affleck's older extremely physical Batman, aside from the hatred of Superman early on; but this has a lot of potential.

Too many Batman storyies have focused so much on the darkness in him, portraying him so far outside of the law against the criminal element that he fights so fiercely. This one starts out very dark, even darker than we have ever seen him as Bruce Wayne. However, Bruce learns some things during the course of this story that help him change to start becoming the hero he should be. It portends of a coming evolution of his character. I'm looking forward to the next film.
