  • Quirky action adventure.

The persuaders was an action adventure series starring Roger Moore fresh from his success as Simon Templar in the saint and Tony Curtis from Some like it hot with Marilyn Monroe.

Two Playboy's who spend their time womanising and carousing around the french Mediterranean are brought together by a mystery figure named ' Judge Fulton';Laurence Naismith. To work for an organisation who specialise in solving crimes normal local authorities can't solve.

The series was funny and exciting containing an Innumerable number of plot departments to keep the audience entertained.

The actors gave very good and watchable performances unfortunately the series flopped in the United States and was cancelled after one series from 1971- 1972.

It did allow Roger Moore to acquire the role of James Bond from 1973- 1985 he played it with a humorous acting style as opposed to Sean's more aggressive but masculine personality.

Overall: a fairly good adventure series not great but ok for a look if you enjoy light escapist entertainment.

  • Starsky and Hutch

Starsky and Hutch was an American police drama which ran from 1975- 1979, and starred two theatre actors named Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul as two streetwise Californian police detectives named David Starsky and Ken Hutchison investigating crimes involving local undesirables.

The series was interesting and unconventional in its approach to policework In the era of the 1970s, storylines which could've fallen flat on their face if not played with a certain conviction and the actors were good and understated in their performances particularly Paul Glaser who exuded masculinity and vulnerability as Starsky.

David Soul could be a bit hammy and wooden at times but for the most part played the part well.

A remake was produced and released in 2004 and starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson and quite rightfully flopped the series was a drama with occasional humorous scenes, the film was a comedy from begining to end because of their reputation as comic actors.

David Soul passed away in January 2024 aged 80 of emphysema date of birth. August 28th 1943 in Minnesota. United States, Paul Michael Glaser is stil alive.

It sold well financially and commercially in our country the United Kingdom and across the other side of the world in the United States where it was created.

Overall: an entertaining and enjoyable police drama from 1970s, entertaining and sometimes poignant with occasional human moments.

  • Fun and exciting escapist action adventure fare

Roger Moore is Simon Templar, an anti- hero of sorts a gentleman thief, who is constantly at odds with the local authority whilst investigating cases which he is posed by his clients.

Written as a work of non- fiction by Leslie charteris, before being adapted for the screen, the saint follows the escapades of Simon across the continent battling various criminals and slimy authoritative characters with ulterior motives.

Roger Moore is sublime as Simon Templar he brings a steely charm and toughness to the character as well as a vibrant charisma and charm which lights up the screen he made the role his own.

The series is filled with first rate British character actors acting of a mostly excellent standard.

Some of the stories are witty and exciting as well as entertaining some drag and are boring filled with inconsequential elements which don't amount to anything but for the most part it stays on point to deliver entertainment which Is worth watching.

Overall: a wonderful series exciting and witty as well as entertaining if you enjoy escapist fare like: the avengers ( Diana rigg and Patrick Macnee), the persuaders, professionals etc. It would probably be your cup of tea.
