This is a small movie but well written, well acted and directed. Tom Wilkinson is outstanding as usual and reason enough to watch this.

An irresponsible act leads to an accident and we see three different approaches from the three detectives involved on the appropriate response. Engaging because there are always gray areas of morality and extended consequences for our actions. I found myself trying to relate to each of the detectives as to which perspective I would align with, only to end up switching several times throughout and never really settling on an answer.

It's mostly drama, part thriller, so there's no over the top action or CGI garbage, just a great little flick that will pull you in and keep your attention. And the ending is perfectly... ambiguous.

This was hard to watch for several reasons: There's sheer brutality for no other reason than the thrill of it and watching kids getting bullied to the point where they would participate in unthinkable things. But the low rating was mostly for the script- primarily the implausible behavior of Michael Fassbender's character. He confronts rebellious teens when he is outnumbered and continually puts his girl in clear danger when other sensible options exist. The ending is also very bleak, and although I don't mind ambiguous outcomes, the finale once again relies on irrational decisions by uneducated people.

Although an interesting piece of history I was not aware of, this film just did not translate very well to the big screen for me. I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters and I thought all the performances were flat. The premise of the movie was made early on and the rest of the film seemed repetitious throughout. To learn more about the tragedies inflicted upon native Americans and specifically the Osage tribes at the hands of white men is needless to say, quite depressing and disappointing. I'm a big fan of Scorsese and all of the actors involved, but unfortunately was very disappointed on a purely entertainment level.
