The surreal effects created for the scenes in Olympus are done well using the camera so I congratulate the makers of Olympus for that. I have to comment on the dialogue between the characters which is good. Oracle as one example is very good in her words to Hero because there is lots of emotion in her voice. I just wish that the filmmakers would have turned the background music off at times because it would make this fictitious Greek film appear more real. However for the most part I liked the episode, and Daedalus looks and acts the part of the inventor. What's more is that the other function Daedalus serves well in is as a supporting character to the whole plot, and he is also a very good comical character. The only thing I would change is cut out some of the scenes like the one with the second military coup. I like Olympus but I believe that some aspects of it are far too predictable and should be removed from the show altogether. Also Oracle is shown way too much to the point that viewers like me are getting tired of her constant appearances. Apart from that I would just say watch the movie and figure out for yourself whether or not this is what your heart desires.
I don't know how Jack does it, but he always keeps it interesting and funny at the same time. The collection of great jokes and pranks he never ceases to amaze me. Every time he says something it looks like he will never run out of enough comical material to satisfy us. He cracks me up second after second and I couldn't stop watching. The only downside I saw is the last one didn't make much sense to me. The prank I am referring to is the one in which Jack Vale tells the clerk he is married to someone already. I suppose the purpose of this prank was to see if the clerk would react at all and get all weirded out or not. Sadly I don't think this prank lived up to Jack's expectations as it probably failed and lost all of its magic when most people he encountered in that setting seemed to ignore it. A few people kind of got it in the end but it was too late. I think this one sort of didn't live up to Jack's expectations. But hey at the end of the day every comedian and artist has his bad days and his fair shares of successes and failures.
Now I have some trouble with liking certain parts of Olympus. I just feel that although the plot is strong and has a good foundation there are other things that should've been done more professionally. For one thing the action scene between the two opponent armies could've been extended. Other scenes that were less important like the fight with the other creatures in the forest could've been shortened. Both way the first episode is really good, and I wouldn't change anything else about its artistic or aesthetic design. Everything else about the episode is great such as the visual effects, despite the fact that I feel the slow motion part of the fight should have been eliminated completely. It's the things that I felt as an audience member I would have done away with had I been a member of the crew. Among other things I have to comment on the fact that the protagonist is a huge plus for the filmmakers. The fact is that Hero is a brilliant character that goes through several phases growing from a boy into a man. This is very much similar to the way we look upon manhood in the real world. Becoming a man is one thing, but to turn into a man and a warrior at the same time is another.
