Have to say when they advertised this for Christmas Day I thought it would be a nice family film...
From the start it looked promising. I assume the backdrop of mill chimneys belching out smoke was a CGI from Temu.
Luckily we have a " strong independent woman" to look after her brother and sister. It was supposed to be 1944 apparently. But with 2022 views on society overriding the piece.
As for the US Troops and the unnecessary plunge into race etc... Why?
What we ended up with wasn't the "family sit down to watch together story" of the original but another poorly made indoctrination movie.

Potentially a good basis for a movie. But. So leaden.
The start of course was a little startling but then we leap forward decades. The drunk weary worn copper has been done to death but at least this time it's carried off a little better than the normal.
Nothing extraordinary except Val Kilmer's hair. Wow.
From then on we get to cut to the chase. Taunting the cop. Mysterious letters....
Fassbender and Ferguson do a decent enough job of the old cop and the luckily attractive newcomer, working together to solve the mystery.
It's a little stale but the snow and scenery.on occasions try to lift the gloomy filming.
