I do not understand why there are so many bad reviews. This show was phenomenal. The story had so many twists. I never knew from one minute to the next whether the visions were real or delusions. Was Álex seeing the future, or was he so mentally ill that he couldn't tell fact from fiction?
The acting is absolutely stunning. Every single actor was perfect for their roles. Really, every single one of them blew me away.
The wrap up in the last episode made me so happy. I will not spoil anything, but Álex and Judy both deserve their happiness and love.
The show was a slow burn, and I loved it. It made the buildup to the finale so gripping. I was so invested in the characters and their stories. It was really beautiful.
I watched it in Spanish with subtitles, because dubbing never does justice to a story. You get the true effect when it's in the original language.
A+ on all levels. I 100% recommend it.

Ilya Muromets is straight out of Russian folklore. This film is based on some of those stories. It may look dated to modern eyes, and weird to Western eyes, but it's actually a love letter to the legends of that great Russian folk hero, Ilya Muromets.
The part with the Wind Demon is based on the story that features Ilya's meeting with Nightingale the Robber (Solovei-Razboinik). I honestly love it!
The Ilya of legend was known to be temperamental, and this is well and accurately depicted in this movie.
I do wish that Ilya's wife, who is named Vasilisa in the Russian version, would be named Vasya, the actual diminutive of that name, instead of Vilya in the English version. Ilya and Vilya sound too alike. Vasya would have differentiated between the two of them much better.
Aside from that, I really enjoy this movie. It's super fun.

I love all of these movies. This one is no exception. It takes place in New Orleans, which brings fabulous energy to the movie. Voodoo! Vampires! Nerdy goodness! May I also say that I love Andre and all of his multicultural cousins. That right there is hilarious.
Simone, played by the gorgeous and talented Stana Katic, is a wonderful character. She is sophisticated, beautiful, and funny! I adored her. She was a perfect counterpoint to Flynn's goofy haplessness. The scene where she brings tea to Flynn was comedy gold.
It's not great cinema, but it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be fun, and it is. It also has a beautiful and poignant ending.
These movies lead perfectly into the series. As a giant nerd myself, they tick all the boxes for me. I will always recommend them to my nerd friends.
