The Hunting Wives follows Sophie O'Neal, a Boston housewife who has been transposed to Texas for her husband's work. Sophie immediately feels like a fish out of water as she experiences the Texas culture shock. However, Sophie's discomfort disappears as she meets Margo, the wife of her husband's new boss. Sophie is immediately entranced by Margo and finds herself a part of Margo's hunting wives. However, when tragedy finds the Small Texas town, Sophie quickly finds that her new home has way more drama than she could've ever imagined. At the same time, Sophie also learns that Margo has a lot of skeletons in her closet, and they make her face her own.
Knowing the basic story of the book, and knowing Brittany Snow was going to be in it, this was a show I have been excited to see ever since it was announced. And for me, it lived up to the expectations. Brittany Snow is my all-time favorite actor, and she is perfect for Sophie. Brittany really does an amazing job in this show and gives it her all in every scene. One second, Sophie can have a soft and lighthearted, even funny scene, and the next second, she can bring you to tears by telling you about the trauma she has experienced. Brittany Snow also has amazing chemistry with Malin Akerman. For me, the show really is about the relationship between Margo and Sophie and how this mystery affects their relationship. I'm not as familiar with Malin Akerman as an actor, but she was perfect as Margo. Honestly, the entire cast is great and no one feels out of place or miscast, which is rare these days. Particularly, Karen Rodriguez gives a great supporting performance as Salazar.
If I were being critical, there are times when everyone hates Sophie for really no good reason. Sophie's husband, Graham, also makes a lot of decisions that make no sense. Also, this was originally a STARZ show, so there are times when the show has some crude scenes just for shock value. This is not a show for kids. However, if you can stomach a couple of NSFW scenes, then this show is definitely worth watching. It's a very bingeable show that hooks you from the first episode. I really hope we get a second season because I need more of these characters and want to see where the story goes from here. All in all, it was a near-perfect season 1, and I would highly recommend it for Brittany's performance alone.

And leaves you wanting more! After the fallout with Jill, Sophie finds herself free and having to pick up the pieces of her life and figure out what she wants. Specifically, Sophie has to figure out what she wants with her relationship with Margo. However, Sophie quickly figures out that Abby's death was more complicated than she had initially thought. Honestly, this was another amazing episode. It feels like an amazing transition from season 1 to season 2. I really hope this show gets a second season because there are still so many questions that need to be answered, and even more now. Brittany Snow once again gives an amazing performance as Sophie. You really get the feeling that Sophie is a person who wants to do the right thing, but who keeps getting in her own way with her terrible decisions. Yet despite her flaws, you want her to succeed. Brittany also has amazing chemistry with Malin Akerman. And I think the way this episode shapes Sophie and Margo's relationship was done in a really interesting way. I won't spoil anything, but this episode has everything you could want. It was hot, it answered the main question of season 1, and laid the foundation for the future. I can't wait to see Sophie again and see where her journey goes from here. But until then, I know that The Hunting Wives is going to be one of those shows I watch again and again.
