I don't agree that this is a bad film.
I do agree that the sci-fi scenes can feel a bit silly at times - but the movie works. It's nicely paced and flows smoothly between timelines.
The film still has a mythic quality, and it manages to weave genuine horror back into that framework. To me the film successfully moves the mythology forward. The director made a genuinely great film with Bloodline.
And yes, I do think this is a better movie than Hellraiser III. That film was fine, but something about it felt tonally off. It wasn't very cohesive with the larger story, and I always felt it didn't visually express what it was trying to say. The imagery just wasn't strong.
I think what most people misunderstand about Bloodline is the expectation that it should feel like Spielberg made it or something. It is a Hellraiser film. It feels like most people lost sight of that from what I've read in the other reviews. Some say, they wish the original screenplay was used. To me, The original screenplay reads more like a period drama than a horror story.
I don't mind some of the campy acting (like the twins), and I don't think Pinhead is "too much." The movie is still scary.
In my estimation, everything works beautifully - even with its campy touches. It's still consistent with the tone and spirit of the earlier Hellraiser films, which have always had a touch of camp beneath their elegance.

I feel that the film is not anti-Christian. I don't think Martin Scorsese was trying to make something offensive to Christians. The film is very interesting and the filmmaking is marvelous. It's interesting in that Jesus and the disciples were never like this in the gospels (Judas being one of the main characters of the film but has a very different presence in the Bible).
The film is very human. You can tell that this film was made by humans, and written by a human with intentions to make a story for Art's sake. For me, this film is in the name of art. This movie is not propaganda, or a cult conversion tape, but a way of looking at the character of Christ and the disciples and making a meditation on Christ's Crucifixion. That's what art is all about.
I know the story of Christ's crucifixion and this movie doesn't question the Bible at all. The cautionary opening should make that clear, but there's no accounting for taste.

It's a b-movie style movie. It kinda reminded me of the Goosebumps tv show. I was a little disappointed that Felissa Rose wasn't in it more but I was surprised about how good the movie was.
Camera work is pretty good, the story makes sense, the movie makes the story make sense, it's nicely paced, no idea is shoved down your throat, and it plays on horror stereotypes very well; again not shoved down your throat.
The editing's pretty good too. It feels like a good student film (not to put it down)
But give it a try!!
