I watched this because I'm a sucker for princess movies. This one was such a let-down, even for a Hallmark movie. The acting was mediocre, - and yes, I know Hallmark movies aren't know for award winning acting, but this one was bad. Derek Klena was in no way convincing as a tough guy in charge of cadets. Ali Skovbye was a little more believable, but not much. British accents (or whatever they were supposed to be) seemed fake - I don't think many of them were authentic. Erica Durance as the queen seemed too young for the role. Watch this movie if you have nothing else to watch or, if me, you just like princess movies, but be prepared - it's not Cinderella.
Since the reviews here were mediocre at best, I was hesitant to see this movie, but I see several movies a week, and this was about the only one to see today that I hadn't already seen, so I dragged hubby along to this one. It started out as animation only, and I was thinking my husband must already be miserable, but when the live action started, I could see that this movie would be enjoyable. Acting was excellent, especially that of Zachary Levi. We both laughed at numerous scenes. Children's movie, yes, but here we were two "senior" adults, laughing in a children's movie. Take the kids or go alone -it's a fun, creative movie.
I went to this movie not expecting a lot and not knowing much about the story. I was totally engrossed from the beginning. It was really amazing, and I don't say that about very many movies. This being a true story makes it even better. You will meet this amazing doctor at the start of the movie, travel back in time to his upbringing, and back to the present time when he devotes his life to helping people gain or regain their sight. Acting was marvelous. When the movie ended, I sat pretty much stunned by how it moved me. This studio is known for making faith-based films, but that is not central to the story.
Don't let this movie get by you - see it before it's gone.
