Saw this recently on Amazon. And you don't have to be a Christian to appreciate this humble actor's journey up to playing Jesus Christ and affecting millions of viewers with his accurate, realistic and gritty portrayal in The Chosen. I had no idea so many former leaders in rock bands became Christians like Brandon Flowers (lead vocalist for The Killers) and Alice Cooper and listening to their own stories and where they are now was an eye-opener. Jonathan Roumie's weighty performance in The Chosen shows why the series has been so successful with Season 6 and Jesus' Crucifixion coming up in 2027! Can not wait to see it.....
For Wicked groupies, of course, it was "GOOD." For the rest of us, who also saw part 2, not so much and it was way too long clocking in at 2 1/4 hours. No one cares how Glinda gets in the bubble and gets out of the bubble and the dance numbers were way too long and flat. Michelle Yeoh was horrible in the role of Madame Morrible. She should stick to martial arts roles. Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba really carried this movie like she does in part 1 but there was just too much filler and a lot of people ended up walking out 1/2 way through the movie sensing boredom. As a reviewer, I was rather disappointed with the dud ending and hope this is the last Wicked movie. If your love of the first movie made you show up, good for you and hopefully, you feel you got your money's worth. The rest of us, including me, thought it was way too long and poorly acted, for the most part.
Honestly, my expectations were low with the title but after I read professional critics' reviews, I said why not? Channing Tatum was surprisingly serious but also funny in this dark comedy-drama. Based on a true story, he plays Jeffrey Manchester, father and husband of a failed marriage because he also happens to be a likeable liar, an armed robber, and a prison escapee who uses rooftops to perpetrate his crimes. Is that all? So, Jeff needs a hideout since he is now wanted by Charlotte PD. What better place than a Toys 'R Us where he makes himself at home and takes a liking to one of the employees he's watching on the security cameras played warmly by Kirsten Dunst. Romance? Directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine), this movie has something for everyone including a naked Channing running through the store when he's discovered by the store manager.... HIGHLY recommended!
