  • I was afraid to watch but so glad I did

I saw this movie weeks ago due to someone's generosity in paying forward a ticket. I was afraid to watch as I expected a depressing and sorrowful film that would do nothing but emphasize the cruelty in the world. The film absolutely portrayed human cruelty, but the dedication of one man to rescuing as many kidnapped children as possible was the overriding theme and ray of hope for the children. Jim Caviezel was the perfect fit for the role, as were all the actors selected for their respective roles. The photography and location selections were perfect. The film left me with the hope that there will be more good people dedicated to stopping this horrid child slavery process.

  • Trumbo Doesn't Disappoint

I did a high school history paper on communism in America, so I am familiar with the story. That said, I went to see David James Elliott (JAG) rather than Bryan Cranston. DJE as John Wayne didn't disappoint, but his 3 scenes were too short. On the other hand, Cranston was superb! If you stay until the end of the movie you'll see clips from the real Trumbo. Cranston did a masterful job of portraying his speech, mannerism, and to some extent physical appearance. It's not a special effects movie, and X & Y generations have no idea about this period in our history. For the rest of us who just want to see a good, old-fashioned movie with good script, good direction, outstanding actors, this is a gem.

  • Wholesome Family Drama

I discovered this series by accident on UP TV. The saga revolves around the multi-generational Fleming family on their Heartland ranch in Alberta. Grandfather Jack is a somewhat crusty individual who is the one everyone else turns to for advice and help in times of trouble. Amy is the central character, one of Jack's two granddaughters, who is, if you will excuse the expression, a horse whisperer. Lou is the other granddaughter, a good-hearted but often too aggressive take-charge person. Chris Potter plays Amy's and Lou's father, an x-rodeo cowboy always looking for a make-money scheme. His wife was killed in an accident, which plays heavily in the first seasons episodes. Ty Borden comes to Heartland on a temporary visit and stays on as his character grows in importance. These cast members, and all the other permanent or temporary cast members are fine actors. The scripts are well written and directed. Once you see a few episodes you will be hooked and look forward to the next and the next.
