As a person who has lived both in the USSR and Russia I have to say the part taking place in Russia looks very funny. I understand it was shot for the American audience and all the stereotypes about the Soviet Union had to be present, but they were so very far from the real life of the Soviet law enforcement back then, I just couldn't stop laughing. The part taking place in America looks like a typical action movie of the 80s and is indeed quite entertaining. Acting by Schwartzenegger is no different from the Terminator series which adds more humour to the most of the situations especially when Danko and other Russians are swearing.
As of today this movie should be more interesting for the Russian audience rather than the American one.

The series covers the so called "The Kazan phenomenon" of the teenager gangs of Tatarstan of 1970s-2020s. I moved to Kazan in the 90s when the "Asphalt wars" period had already been over, but I know many things about it anyway as I still live here and I can confirm the screenplay is very accurate in details. It's also incredibly well shot and played. I would only add that among the characters pictured there are too many ethnic Russians. The real gangs were of mixed ethnic origin of course, but the majority of members, especially the leaders, were Tatars. I highly recommend watching it for everyone and not just for those who want to learn more about the late Soviet Union and why it broke up.
Watch it, you have nothing to watch at the moment. The script was awful, but photography worked much better. Actors were good too.
