I gave this 4 stars purely because it helped me to snatch some well earned catnaps after a busy days work. I have seldom watched such a boring series. The story telling is exceedingly lazy and with one or two exceptions the acting is third, no fourth, rate. It is clear that the script writers are trying their best to draw out the series for as long as they can with scenes which are exceedingly boring and offer absolutely nothing to keep the audience interested. The storyline is nonsensical and the complete absence of any attempt by the new arrivals to ask any meaningful questions about the origins of the creatures beggars belief. I imagine that many of the actors will drift off into the wilderness never to be seen again (hopefully) and that the writers and directors will return to their day jobs (mercifully). Overall a complete waste of viewing time.
What a wonderful comedy show this is, British comedy at its best. Ronnie Barker is undoubtedly one of our greatest ever comedians his timing and delivery is almost perfect and who can forget his role in that other gem of British comedy, the Two Ronnies. We lost a master of his craft when Barker died but can take great comfort in knowing that his legacy remains as we watch and remember his brilliance. David Jason is the perfect foil for Barker's comedy sketches. A wonderful actor in his own right, Jason delivers endless fun and nonsense in this wonderful comedy show. The whole cast is worthy of a mention, sadly many of them no longer with us. Thank you Messrs Barker and Jason and Co for the memories.
I watched this series from start to finish during the recent pandemic. What a wonderful example of British comedy. There were moments when I laughed out loud which is not normal for me such was the comedy on display. A wonderful series full of wonderful actors which will take its place amongst the greats of British comedy such as Dad's Army, Are you being served, Keeping up appearances and Rising Damp to name just a few. Just wonderful.
