  • Season 1 is amazing, Season 2 is trash

When "The Sandman" first came out on Netflix, I fell instantly and absolutely in love with everything in the series... the plot was good and strong (even innovative!), the characters were well constructed and the world was built with substance, with a lot of layers. It was indeed a breath of fresh air when it comes to fantasy series or movies that have been coming out this past few years.

The script itself, having a lot of philosophy in it, was also something that attracted me because you could tell the lines were not forced at all. Overall, the series were a 10 out of 10.

But then, season 2 came out this year.

I was excited to see again another story happen in this fantastic world that was built but then... it was just a big, huge, disappointement. The plot is going side ways with no plausible justification on why "x" thing happens in the context of the story and the characters are full with lines that dont add anything relevant and seem unnatural for a certain character to say or act that way.

To make matters worse, how does it make sense to start throwing new characters every episode just to fill holes, when they add almost nothing to the general narrative?

The ending of season 2, was the cherry on top of a badly baked cake. I mean, it just splashes on our faces that they wanted to end the series as soon as possible but didnt even bother to build something that had quality and felt like it was thought over like the first season. It really made me angry to see such good characters (and amazing actors!!!), plot and story just thrown away to the trash literally to end something fast.

It's very sad because then people wonder why we dont have any good series or films with a fresh point of view being made and coming out like we had in the 90s/2000s, for example. Write better and dont waste great potential like in "The Sandman" season 2.

  • One of the movies that explains why i fell in love with cinema

I was reminiscing about the beauty of cinema, what drove me into this area, and when i look back to all the films that taught me lessons, told stories, gave me new perspectives or just a way to reflect, i have there my answer. This used to be my favorite film when i was 13 years old. I used to watch it on loop almost every week or month. Maybe because in some way i related to some topics, maybe because its an adaptation of a book based on a teenage story so me being 13 of course i would relate, but it was much more than that. It gave me a new way to understand myself better and to know that not all people are supposed to be the same, when really all i wanted at the time was to be like everyone else. Sometimes this is what we need to see and understand at a certain age, and a film gave me that. All of this to say... amazing movie and great performances, one of my personal favorites forever.

  • Singular Movie - Rationality VS Emotions

A movie that defies prejudices. Its a one of a kind film, with unique cinematography and plot. While the main idea is the liberation of a "young" woman, the movie depicts several scenarios, philosophies, stereotypes, societies, etc. It has a dense narrative that leaves you processing everything after it finishes for a while. While i would say one of the main angles of the movie is rationality vs emotions, which we see as a first the rationalization coming from a woman (not so common in movies), the film left me feeling nothing after i watched it. I dont feel like it was good or bad, i just feel its a movie that obligates you to analyze and evaluate everything, like a philosophical thesis, but very blunt and cold (hence the rationality vs emotions) taken to maybe an extreme. The movie "has" an opinion about our world and life depicted in a peculiar way, which can defie yours, or not!
