"Barking at the stars" was doing high school romance before it was cool, and they did it in a different way than any other movie. Believe it or not, even if the video quality of the movie itself isn't so great because it was filmed on a cheaper movie track, and it definitely isn't your Hollywood flick, it stills manages to keep itself on a pretty high bar. If you want to see a classic, the root of high school romance movies, not exactly like godfather-classic, but like we will remember it forever - classic. Interesting trivia: On most of bus trips (it doesn't matter to which place it is going) this movie is the most shown on the bus TV to keep the viewers interested, so not only people from that time will remember it, but everyone, everywhere.
Let me tell you more about 'slava'. Every family has a saint they celebrate, some have it as Saint Nikola, some have Saint Archangel, they are all saints. Every once in a year there is a day for each saint (Saint Nikola's day, for example). That time they invite all their neighbors and friends to a big celebration, not like a party, but an old, sitting at the table while eating and discussing, then getting drunk and dancing type of celebration. It is a traditional Serbian thing that manages to keep itself liked by everyone. So, if you want to learn something about Serbian tradition, have a good laugh, and be told a good story, this movie is no discussion, definitely for you, watch it.
You know what I mean, it's the type of movies everyone hates here - the Hollywood flick. It has a lot of mistakes that go unnoticed, but for a serious viewer can be a real pinch in the eye. For example, as the movie says (no spoilers), they were stuck there for 3 years? How did they shave themselves? I mean, they look young, but you have to grow just a little bit in your facial hair or hair at all. They however, look perfectly clean. Second thing that pinches my eye is - come on, they are young as I said, it's impossible everything can be so peaceful, If it was realistic, I think that a lot of them would just, die...
