Heard about this film back in 2009 and by looking at the images I thought it was going to be a dark comedy film.
After so many years I've managed to watch it on Netflix and I have to say that I'm kind of disappointed. It doesn't take away Jake gyllenhaal and Jamie Fox's performance, which I believe the two guys were the highlights of the film, the camera work and the cinematography especially shots in the desert and in the night as well Look stunning, however what really held it back was the plot and pacing, the film dragged on too long and to just some fillers as well.
As a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal, this film has to be one of the weakest I've seen, and I would recommend other films that are way more enjoyable than this. I don't know, maybe because army films aren't my cup of tea, but that's just me probably.

After a year of hype about the film being discussed with Gareth Evans-yes, I met him in Swansea last year-we finally get to see it on Netflix.
Probably one of Evan's weaker films, in fact it's nothing new that I've seen, i.e. Corrupt cops, gang leader's son killed in a drug deal, and war breaks out between gangs, hardboiled detective investigates gangs, the accused on the run, car chases.
All in all, you'll get about 3 or 4 action sequences, but in the middle, just some filler to fill up the run time. Was it the worst film I've seen? Absolutely not, in fact, I enjoyed parts of it, definitely better than Grey Man, that's for sure, but not as good as the Extraction films.
Overall, I wouldn't mind rewatching this film again for the fun of it, but it's not something to recommend. Stick to watching Extraction 1 & 2 if you really want a proper Netflix action flick, because this film has the most typical American film ending.
P.s. I'm going to see Gareth Evans in Cardiff someday to discuss this film😂
