My biggest problem with the entire Hobbit trilogy is I couldn't care less about the dwarves.
Thorin's only redeeming quality was that he happened to be a king - he didn't have a single moment of empathy or character other than the final of this movie. He was so annoyingly brooding through the other films that I saw little difference when he developed the dragon's lust or whatever they called it.
There was so little character development with the other dwarves. Other than the one who loves the elf, they were all shells with goofy moments.
I dunno. The visuals were stunning of course. But these films fell really short, in my opinion.

This movie dragged. Dialogue was terrible, the actors had no chemistry, and it was far too slow to be compelling. Needed more action or better actors. I can't stand these films that come across as so pretentious - just wrote real people instead of aiming for unrealistic characters with no redeeming qualities.
Kate Winslet is truly amazing. Her story arc, that accent, every little detail of her movements was perfection. Even though this show had a bit of a slow start, I was hooked from the first episode, and the tense finale was incredible. I absolutely loved this show.
