I initially expected a classic love story, perhaps the "Cinderella" of our time, like it was promoted as. But I was pleasantly surprised to discover something entirely different. This is not a love story, far from it. This film is an exploration of usury, exploitation, opportunism, and classism. In many ways, it feels like Pretty Woman without the love or romance, but told with an extraordinary level of craft and depth. Truly a masterful piece of filmmaking. Bravo to all involved.
