This show follows the 3-4 police forces that patrol the red neck capital of the US--the lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Haven't been there in decades but from watching the show the main attraction seems to be bars where skeezy-looking guys and scantily clad women get so drunk they can barely stand. Then they leave the bar and try to drive a vehicle, pilot a boat or just stab each other in the street in front of the bar.
There is the occasional burglary and quite a few traffic stops for people driving without a licenses, drugs, etc. But that's about it. Entertaining for few minutes until it's depressing.
Why the local authorities allow them to film all this is a mystery--not exactly a good advertisement for future tourists.

I have watched almost all episodes, waiting on the final Season5. There has been some criticism of the missing chemistry this season because of the departure of the previous male lead character. First, I think it was great to focus on Scarlet in the first part of S5 because it shows off how good an actor Kate Phillips is. She is an absolute master at facial expressions! However late in season 5 the "missing chemistry" begins to develop with the new male lead. IMHO this series continues to get stronger and is one of the best things produced for network TV. I am hoping this will be as long lived as some of the classic British shows like Vera and Silent Witness.
I've slogged my way through 3 of these and I have to say this is perhaps one of the worst shows in recent memory. Bad writing, Bad acting, ludicrous premise. And who still goes on cruises anyway after a decade or more of disasters? They should have at least waited until the industry regained some credibility before doing a bachelor meets Love Boat.
I realize US television audiences are not known for their sophisticated taste, but the fact that this is attracting a lot of viewers is kind of embarrassing.
If you want more entertaining cruise show, "The Good Ship Murder" at least has a plot and the characters are not as disgusting. The singer can't sing but they mercifully put it at the end so you can skip it.
