I like that the filmmaker Hassan is bold in his ventures. In this film I loved that he had a transgender character and I LOVE the name Happy Heart!
I feel this film was a rare view into some of Pakastani culture as well as the spiritual component which transcends cultures. Looking forward to seeing what he does next!
I enjoyed watching Night of Henna in a small screening with the film maker. It was great to hear the stories of how the film came to be and some of the behind the scenes info! As an aspiring film maker it felt good to 'rub elbows' with someone who is actually doing it! Keeping in mind it was his first film, I thought it was good for what it was. Many of the actors were quite attractive. In some places granted the acting could have been better, but hey, it was a low budget first film. Give a guy a break. Of course the subject matter is important. The cultural clashes and how things worked out in the end is a testimony to the human spirit and how the world is changing for the better. Yay!
I LOVE this film! I have owned it, watched it and shown it to others for years! Helps us see what's possible for healthy peaceful births, lives and world! Highly recommended for moms, dads, everyone! I especially love the use of hypnotherapy and toning at the births. I love that the children are present. Given medical birth practices it is quite something to see a woman deliver her own baby into her own hands. I am particularly interested in not cutting the umbilical cord right away, but better to leave it alone for awhile, if not have a lotus birth. Lotus birth is not really covered in the film, but you can research it. I think it is so important to learn more about healthy birth practices and only use medical intervention if needed.
