It's not a bad movie but not exactly packed with thrills and suspense either. Helen Mirren and Daniel Mays excel and Pierce Brosnan is good too.
Other than a smattering of amusing moments it's all just a bit saccharine and twee. It's a passable way to spend and hour and half but won't live in the memory as soon as the credits start rolling.
I've not read this or any of the books and based on this I've no desire to now.

This is such a huge disappointment. The plot has no credibility and virtually none of the situations are believable.
Throw in some rank bad acting and it's a recipe for disaster. Nearly all the situations are so contrived and have been done before in many similar ways it's the tv equivalent of painting by numbers. Just awful in every way.
