Ralph Fiennes delivers another strong performance in Conclave, bringing depth to his role with skill and authenticity. The storyline is engaging, offering more than just a behind-the-scenes look at the Vatican. As a devoted Muslim, I've always felt a special connection to the Church, particularly through its music and stunning gothic architecture. This film explores many of the social challenges we're facing today, such as hate, racism, prejudice against other faiths, and homophobia. It also touches on personal struggles, like the complexity of our body, mind, and faith, and how an unwavering sense of certainty can lead individuals and communities to disregard anything that seems different. While it's a work of fiction, the film feels deeply relevant, addressing universal truths that we can all relate to. It's 3 am and I work at 8 and I am not regretting any minute watching it...
The movie was entertaining and offered a lot to think about, though the acting felt quite flat overall. The plot touches on cultural clashes, especially with Jashan's behavior abroad, which felt inappropriate and, frankly, disrespectful-particularly in the context of celebrating Christmas. As a Moroccan, I found it embarrassing and can understand why many Indians might feel the same. However, it also felt a bit exaggerated at times, leaving me uncertain about its accuracy. Despite that, the film's message of love transcending cultures and traditions was heartwarming, and I was glad to see love prevail in the end.
I enjoyed this movie and I recommend it to everybody who wants to enjoy 2h of a very very good movie. This is the story of Trudy, a woman who defied all boundaries to prove to the skeptics that she was chosen, gifted with the ability to swim as swiftly as a marlin. Trudy Ederle's persistence and determination became a testament to the heights a human being can reach. She battled the treacherous waters of the English Channel, overcoming not only the physical challenges but also the doubts of those who believed such a feat was beyond her capabilities. Through relentless training and an unyielding spirit, Trudy shattered records and made history, showing the world the true power of human perseverance and fortitude. Hero!
