Came across this one on a streaming channel, as a "recommend for you" based upon movie... Thought what the heck, give it a try. It was a rather slow beginning into the meat of the movie and then it got going. Some twists and turns along the way, nothing predictable and a decent story line. Was this a first class A rated movie, no, but as a what the heck give it a shot B movie, it was okay.
Seems like a Hallmark knock off. The main character solves mysteries with her Book Club members... She runs a craft shop, not a librarian, has a budding romance with fireman, not the cop but... has a dog, not a cat, still sounds a lot like one of those other mystery series... mmm what was the name of that one with Aurora .... The writing is far less polished... it is just okay.
Okay you need to watch the whole episode! It is very confusing, a typical head scratcher when ever one Oades is involved let alone what four or five of them together. BUT for those who say the episode did not have a mystery in it, they clearly did not watch the entire episode because there was a murder and more than one crime! Despite the head scratching and wondering just what in the heck was going on, and laughs at the events that led to the confusion, there were some serious situations and the pause in the goofiness made for a very decent Brokenwood. We sort of figured out the Les thing but it did take a while. In the end the right people went to jail, and finally the lawyer did the right thing too! Thank goodness for sweet Frodo, he as always makes everything right side up again in his amazingly wonderful way, but then again he is only a half Oades.
