Great movie. Was skeptical, I know Tim Blake Nelson can act but didn't see him as a good fit for a boxing movie. The movie slowly catches your attention and then holds it. Nina Ariana is excellent as she is in everything. Same with Kevin Corrigan. Probably the best role I've seen Nelson in. Authentic. Well worth a watch.
Unimpressive from start to finish. Either not much of a story to begin with, or a very weak script. You'd think, with The Rock and Olivia Wilde being cast, and the money and resources behind them, at least something moderately interesting and well directed would result. But no. This wasn't even a B movie. Nice work on Rock's make-up, though. If you want to see an excellent fight movie, watch Tim Blake Nelson in Bang Bang.
I am a huge Conan fan and have been for years. His prior travel show, Conan without Borders, was beyond funny. It was so good in fact I thought he was the obvious replacement for Anthony Bourdain on CNN. I was so looking forward to Conan O'Brien Must Go and just finished all 4 episodes. I'm not sure what happened. It wasn't really funny. Mildly amusing in spots but nowhere near the gut-holding hilarity of Conan without Borders. There were a lot of cringe-worthy, poor chemistry moments that went on way too long. Conan seemed to be trying too hard. Some of the parodies weren't at all funny. I'm not sure whether it was poor editing or a different vision for the show. Even the background music seemed off. It wasn't something I would recommend to any of my friends. I hope he can recapture the authenticity of Conan without Borders again.
