Watching this movie was definitely a fun and awesome experience. It looked good and it sounded good with that amazing score. That intro was so fun to watch that I wanted to rewatch the movie again in theaters just for the intro.
My only gripes with this movie is that the plot is unbelievably basic lol. This could've been an easy 8 but the movie's plot feels like what you'd get if you give a 22 year film student 200 million dollars. When you compare it to its counterpart, Rush, you can tell that F1's story doesn't have the same gravitas and emotional pull that Rush has.
I wished they did more with Damson Idris' character, but he seemed to be more of a supporting cast to Brad Pitt than a co-protagonist. Also, the romance in the movie was unnecessary and it may have even harmed the movie. It just wasn't that important to spend precious runtime on.
Really fun movie. Just wished they'd have done more with it.

I watched the long version (almost 4 hours) and only because of the high rating on IMDB. At best, it's a 6, but for me a 5 and quite frankly, I think that's being generous to be honest.
1. The pacing is terrible. It is so disjointed and confusing that i had to look at the movie's Wikipedia to follow the plot. Half the movie could be cut out and I dont think it'll affect the movie in any way. There is no reason for the movie to be close to 4 hours
2. The plot is simple and just not as grand as the movie thinks it is. The closest movie I can think of that this movie feels like is Godfather 2 and man, it's laughable comparing this movie to that. It's not even in the same league. Once upon a time in America is boring and melodramatic and some of the plot devices used in this movie was downright stupid. The ending sucks and is borderline unbelievable for a movie that tried to be "down to earth" for the time period.
3. I do not want to be the morality police in order to give this movie a fair review but some of the scenes that were vulgar didn't seem to matter to the overall plot of the movie or the protagonist's development. The protagonist just seems to brush it off and moves on with his life. I do not understand the character development of the DeNiro's character. It seems like the movie could've been more powerful if the main character was properly developed, but he just wasn't. He just seems to be a loser at best, and a sadistic asshole at worst. Now that won't be a problem if that was what was conveyed, but the movie tries to convey that he is smth else more dignified and redeemable, and I just don't buy that hahaha.
This movie sucks. If I watched the movie when it originally came out in theaters, my first thought would've been, "Scarface is a lot better than this"

At this point, I'd take out that whole storyline. This show doesn't need it. We all came to watch MASTER CHIEF, not Kwan and cowboy bebop.
Dope episode. Drives the plot and paces it along. I've always liked this show from the premiere. At the very least you can tell it's well produced and the cgi is up to par, especially as a sci-fi show. No need to rush it. There's plenty of material to use and explore in the halo universe.
