This movie was fantastic. If you grew up with power rangers you will LOVE this. They cleverly explain away why some of the original rangers arent there. The main two that reprise their roles are fun to watch even tho they are by far the worst actors in the movie. But its not really about that is it? Its about that nostalgia and that smile you cant hide when you see and hear the "boolooolooloooloolloooo" of the putties and rita's voice.
Despite the terrible acting at parts there are some really good things here.
First the young asian girl that plays the daughter... she def carries the fun with her acting and i think her martial arts abilities if she does her own.
The fight choreography is like 50 times better than you'll see in triple a blockbusters like Resident Evil (anderson's jump cut crap). Actually done quite well.
The story was actually good... fit nicely in modern times. Concise. Entertaining.. sometimes funny.
Great fan service. I dont see how anyone could give this a bad review honestly. It kept and improved on the original feel of power rangers from the 90's. I know theres a million iterations in Japan and in NA after the 90's version. But this pays perfect homage to the 90s version and as someone that watched it religiously as a kid... trust when I say it delivers. Laugh at the bad acting by Billy and love the fighting by the rest. Laugh at how all the rangers after morphing are the same height but vary greatly when in human form. THAT is part of what makes this movie perfect.
I watched the 2017 power rangers movie RIGHT after this.. and my god what a piece of utter sh- in comparison.

Started out as a horror... transitioned to a revenge plot? Then to some superhero stuff. 10/10 would recommend a gummie before watching. But Crowe is fantastic to watch in this. The kid does a wicked job as well. All in all good film. Not what I expected by the end. It just keeps escalating across genres and epicness tho. Just when you think damn. It goes more.
Some pacing issues though. What would take a normal person 30 seconds to walk from a to b takes Crowe over 15 mins while other events transpire at times. That leaves a little meh... and some illogical things like "most dangerous demon ever" but lets leave the family alone and unprotected while we just chill outside and such.
Recommended tho. Its good fun for the whole family.

If you go in thinking its gonna be a war-like epic based on vikings and that era like the popular shows, you'll be disappointed. That doesnt make the movie bad, just not really properly marketed. If you know the director's other work prior, then maybe you can anticipate it... I didn't realize going in.
That said, it's interesting and unique. Has minor action and drags quite a bit overall despite the visuals which go heavily into a fantastical dream-like place. The story in general was much too basic to hold a movie audience for longer than 1.5 hrs, so pushing just over 2 was this movie's biggest weakness I think.
Acting was good, twist was very very predictable, visuals were interesting and production quality was solid. Its decent, despite wanting to maybe see some of the cooler scenes again, its not really a "re-watch" due to the length so I wouldn't say its great... just almost good. There was a lot of grunting and yelling.
